Modulen använder sig av Sonys IMX219PQ CMOS sensor som erbjuder bra video- och bildkvalité. Modulen erbjuder även funktioner som brusreducering och kontroller över funktioner som exponering, vitbalans och luminans för att ge dig verktygen som krävs för att ta bra bilder.
Den 15 centimeter långa GPIO-kabeln ansluts till Raspberry Pis Camera Serial interface port (CSI). Väl ansluten får du tillgång till kameramodulen via Multi-Media Abstraction Layer (MMAL) eller Video for Linux (V4L) APIerna, alternativa bibliotek som Picamera Python och många andra finns även att ladda ner.
