PCI Express FireWire-kortet med 3 portar levereras med ett lågprofilsfäste för installation i datorer med liten formfaktor, inklusive ett valfritt helprofilsfäste för installation i standardchassin.
FireWire-kortet kan installeras i en PCIe-kortplats för att lägga till två IEEE1394b- (FireWire 800 – 9 stifts) portar och en IEEE1394a- (FireWire 400 – 6 stifts) port, och ger hög kompatibilitet för många FireWire-enheter (t.ex. DV-videokameror, externa hårddiskar, digitalkameror, etc.).
2x FireWire 800- och 1x FireWire 400-kortet har ett ursprungligt (enkelchip) PCI Express-chipset, som ger snabbare, pålitligare och mer kostnadseffektiv prestanda än utbyggnadskort som använder "bridge"-chip.
